Our Newest Baptism
Let me introduce you to Jackie. Jackie was going through some very difficult times in her life. She has 5 children, 2 of the younger ones are autistic. He husband left her and she was searching for something meaningful in her life. As she was looking in the phone book for a church she could turn to. She came across the name of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She called the number and a member told her to come to church on Sunday. That's where it all began. The members embraced her and helped her through her difficult days. She said she had been to many churches before but they didn't appreciate her bringing her two unruly autistic children. We met Jackie in a Stake Conference that we spoke in, when she was introduced to us. She said she was investigating our church but had been so impressed with the love she had received and the principles of the church she had learned. We told her when she had her baptismal date we wanted to be there. Three weeks later Jackie and her 3 oldest children were baptised. The chapel was full of members who were there to support her. They loved Jackie and she loved them. I don't think I have seen such an embrace in the gospel for a new convert as I saw in Jackie and her 3 children that night. She had been led to have the gospel in her life at a time when she not only needed love and support, but also needed the gospel to bless her. What a privilege it was to witness that event.
